Induction melting furnaces are divided into industrial frequency, medium frequency, and high frequency furnaces based on the power frequency to run normally. What is the difference between a medium frequency furnace and an industrial frequency furnace?

Three Functions of Induction Melting Furnaces
In the casting field, we use induction melting furnaces for three purposes: melting, holding, and pouring. According to the functions, we can divide induction furnaces into melting, holding, and pouring furnaces.
An industrial frequency crucible induction furnace is mainly used for smelting and casting iron and non-ferrous metals. Due to the strong electromagnetic stirring force, the life of the furnace lining is very short during steelmaking, so it is not suitable for steelmaking unless the problem of the life of the refractory material can be solved.
For non-ferrous metals (such as oxygen-free copper) with strict gas content requirements, it is not suitable to use an industrial frequency crucible induction furnace.
The Advantages of Medium Frequency Furnaces
When the power frequency crucible induction furnace is used as a holding furnace, the induction coil is relatively short, about 1/4 of the height of the crucible.
The medium frequency crucible induction furnace is suitable for melting and heat preservation of steel and non-ferrous metals. Compared with the power frequency crucible induction furnace, the medium frequency crucible induction furnace has the advantages of high power density, convenient melting, no need for a three-phase balance device, and the furnace body is small in size under the same production conditions. The medium frequency crucible induction furnace can empty the molten steel, which is convenient for changing metal types.
In the case of the same stirring force and capacity, the intermediate frequency furnace can even input 3 times the power of the industrial frequency furnace. The size of this gap is not just as simple as the difference between their names.
In other words, under the same power condition, the crucible size of the intermediate frequency furnace is only one-third of that of the industrial frequency furnace.
In addition, due to the influence of the inductor coil current and voltage, the input power of the intermediate frequency furnace is about twice that of the industrial frequency furnace, so the average power consumption of the intermediate frequency furnace is much lower than that of the industrial frequency furnace.
The difference between industrial frequency furnaces and medium frequency furnaces is not only the power gap but also the gap in user experience. Every time the medium frequency furnace is smelted, the charge can be emptied directly.
Advanced dumping intermediate frequency furnace is easier to use. The industrial frequency furnace also needs to reserve part of the remaining molten metal for the melting of the next furnace, otherwise, it needs to use the melt to help it start melting.
Under the same production efficiency, the intermediate frequency furnace has a small capacity and occupies less area than a power frequency furnace. And because the intermediate frequency furnace is small in size, the amount of lining material used is naturally less than that of the power frequency furnace, which indirectly saves operating costs.
As a new generation of casting equipment, the intermediate frequency furnace has made great improvements in terms of reliability and utilization on the basis of the original power frequency furnace. This makes the intermediate frequency furnace more reliable and has a higher utilization rate than the industrial frequency furnace.
Due to the more advanced working principle of the intermediate frequency furnace, compared with the industrial frequency furnace, the stirring force is smaller, so that the impact of the metal on the lining is also smaller, which can effectively improve the life of the lining, which is also one of the advantages of the intermediate frequency furnace.
Finally
The above are the advantages of the medium frequency furnaces compared to industrial frequency furnaces. Luoyang HTGP is a professional manufacturer of medium frequency furnaces in China.
